watercolor postcard

Today, I did a watercolor postcard. Mallory is my cousin, and I am going to put a note and a stamp on the back and mail it to her. It is very easy to make. You will need:

thick, sturdy white paper                                               assorted color watercolor paints
small bowl of water                                                       paintbrushes
white crayon

With the white crayon, draw a picture or write a note on the white paper. Then, dip a paintbrush into the water, then dip it into any color of paint and start painting over your designs. The paint will not go over the wax from the crayon, so the crayon design shows through! Let it dry, put a note, address, and stamp on the back, and mail it to someone special!

Other Ideas
If you do a watercolor postcard, you don't have to do it exactly like I did it. You could make it into a thank you card by gluing your design to the front, or put it in a frame and hang it on the wall. You could also try something fancier, like putting glitter on it or making a feather border! Or, you could just do the crayon design and not the paint, then give it to your friend as a secret message. They'll think it's outrageous!
